You Me At Six - Loverboy
The rough and ready appeal of Loverboy, replete with laddy chants and low-slung bass, might be a far cry from the more grandiose moments of You Me At Six's latest LP (out this week), but its cares-to-the-wall attitude can't be faulted.
Picking up from night-out anthems like Liquid Confidence, the track is an impressive calling card for the grittier version of the band. With lines like 'leave the scene smelling of dead roses', it exudes an ambitious cocktail of testosterone and general male swagger.
A big proper chorus and arena-rocking guitar solo, the band are making their real shot at the mainstream here - and when the results sound as great as Loverboy does, that can only be a good thing.
The album Sinners Never Sleep is available to download from iTunes now.
